A community arts festival
In 2021 the Millfield Festival took a slightly different format. Instead of being at New England Rec, activities took place in venues across Millfield, celebrating all that the area has to offer. This was so we could still make a festival happen in a covid-safe way.
Pictures below show how we all had a great time – even if we weren’t able to come together at the field like in previous years.
Activities included a Bollywood Matinee performance from local band Musafir, walking history tours by Deljit Singh and Hazel Perry, art and dance workshops, performances from members of Motyva Lithuanian Choir, Romani music and talks, a Pakistani animation film screening, storytelling, shadow puppetry, a street exhibition, and more.
The festival wouldn’t have been possible without our wonderful friends at Gladstone Connect, Community First, Beat This, PARCA, Gladstone Park Community Centre, Bharat Hindu Samaj Temple, Cine-Sister, Gladstone Primary, and Compas Orion. They all had amazing festival activity over the weekend.

Bretton Royalty
Bretton Royalty (summer 2021) was inspired by a Bretton resident’s experiences of feeling like royalty during the 1995 Bretton Festival, when she was ‘Bretton Festival princess’ for the day. We extended this feeling of being made to feel special by your community, and celebrated Bretton residents.
