It’s less than two months till the next Eye Village Lantern parade and we would love your help.
Eye lantern parade is back and this year the theme of the working class heritage of the village will be interwoven into the parade. This includes farming, brickworks, railway, tea dances, and football. We expect it to be another night of magic, community and lots of and lots of lanterns!
Date: Sunday 17th November, 4 – 6pm
With all our great community events, we need volunteers and we have quite a few roles that will make the parade another safe, successful event and a night that will warm your hearts.
Below are the volunteer roles we have on offer.
Volunteer Roles:
· Light Up Eye Parade Assistants – your role will be ensuring the enjoyment of the parade for participants and audience. Your role will be to answer questions from the public before and during the parade, supporting the audience & participants safely around the parade route.
· Light Up Eye Event Assistants: your role will provide an essential service during the event and in the lead up. You may be allocated a place on the parade route to look after, waiting for audiences and performances to arrive etc. You may also be needed to help set-up or staff other spaces being used for the parade e.g. Leeds Hall etc. You will be relied upon to ensure that the event runs smoothly.
· Light Up Eye Artists Assistant: You will help ensure that props and costumes are at the right place at the right time for the performers, helping them lift / move lanterns into place. You get to be part of the creative team. You will need to attend a rehearsal for this role on Saturday 16th as well as be there for Sunday 17th.
* Volunteers will need to attend a volunteer briefing on Monday 11th November (online or in-person) and be available from around 2.30pm on 17th.
*We can support you with travel costs and will ensure you have food and refreshments on the night.

What is the parade??
For those of you who are new and don’t know about the parade, please go to our page about the 2022 event: https://peterboroughpresents.org/light-up-eye/. There are two films which show what we got up to with the help of village. The event in 2022, closed the high street in the village, 400 people were actually on the parade, another 600-700 lined the high street, watched 250 lanterns be paraded and carols in garages and a whale in churchyard.
