Millfield Local Producer
In brief…
Peterborough Presents are looking for an early career Associate Producer to become part of the team working on a new programme in Millfield in 2024/25.
By Producer, we mean someone who is able to help coordinate the logistics of putting on events and projects, working in the background to make something happen. You need to be organised and a good problem-solver, with a strong interest in working in the community.
Imagine the events as a swan. The producer is the feet of the swan, quickly paddling away underwater and making it look like the swan, above water, glides along effortlessly!
You will support the delivery of 3 strands of the programme: The Millfield Creative Activity Fund, Millfield Makers, and the Millfield Residency. You will start in June and finish around October 2025.
The work equates to 30 days spread out over the year. This could be spent as a few days per month with larger blocks leading up to big events. This will be negotiated with the successful candidate. The Associate Producer MUST be available on Saturday 24 August 2024.
This role is aimed at someone who is starting out as a Producer / Project Coordinator. You may or may not have an arts background but must be able to demonstrate the skills we need through any previous paid or voluntary work.
We are looking for someone who is based in and around Peterborough. Ideally you will be from Millfield or with a connection to Millfield.

Some background information
Millfield is a vibrant, diverse part of the city in which over 120 languages are spoken. It is often peoples’ first home when they arrive in the city.
Peterborough Presents have been working in Millfield since 2017. In that time, we have created and restored murals, held exhibitions, audio tours, film making clubs, carnival performances, and supported loads more.
For the last five years we have run Millfield Festival. It was a small-scale, family-friendly festival, which welcomed 3000 people every year to make, play, and watch amateur and professional creativity. This year we are pausing Millfield Festival to instead explore how we can offer more opportunities for people to participate in creative activity throughout the year.
The three strands are:
Millfield Makers – a family-friendly fun day where local people and groups run fun creative workshops for the local community. Saturday 24 August 2024
Millfield Creative Activity Fund – local groups and individuals can apply for up to £1000 to have a creative activity as part of a local community event or celebration
Millfield Residency – a big creative project happening across 2024/25. We will recruit a Lead Creative to oversee a creative project across Millfield, with the aim of creating something that different generations and cultures can share their traditions, heritage, and cultures with each other. We don’t know kind of project this will be yet!

– Has the ability to work on own initiative, showing a pro-active approach to work and time management
The Associate Producer will support the organisation of the three strands of our Millfield programme – from meeting with community groups, booking venues, supporting creative workshops, to health and safety. This job is the ideal role for someone who is interested in learning more about the world of Producing, Project Management, and working in Creative Community or Charity sector.

Payment and terms
Producer payment and expenses:
Fee: £4500 for approximately 30 days work. This could be paid as freelance based on £150 per day, or the equivalent via a zero-hours contract with Nene Park Trust. You will also be able to claim for travel fees for meetings and activities within the city.
Timeframe: June 2024 to October 2025
Location: We have desk space available at Chauffeurs Cottage, St Peters Rd, Peterborough, PE1 1YX. Home working is also possible. You will also be required to work at events and meetings in Millfield / Gladstone areas.
Working Hours: This is a part-time, fixed term post until end October 2025, working approximately 1 – 2 days per month on average. The work could be completed in blocks of time within this timeframe. The Associate Producer MUST be available on 24 August 2024.
The Associate Producer will be paid by Nene Park Trust, who host Peterborough Presents, on submission of a monthly invoice. The postholder will be required to show evidence of public liability insurance and self-employed status unless opting for a zero-hours PAYE contract.
