RAD 2.0 – Lava Lamp

Lava Lamp is an inclusive nightclub event; founded in 2007 by a passionate group of volunteers from the DDN community in Peterborough. With music practitioners from Beat This CIC they developed a unique haven – a place where people with learning disabilities, their friends, and carers connected, laughed, and danced the night away. Lava Lamp was paused last year due to funding challenges and rising costs and it left a significant gap in the DDN community.

Two people stand at the DJ decks. The person on the left is spinning the decks and the person on the right is wearing sunglasses.

In partnership with Peterborough Presents, Lava Lamp made a comeback for RAD 2.0. A special club event marked the anniversary of the foundation of the Disability Discrimination Act. The brilliant club night took place at the Willow Cafe in Central Park, where a lively crowd chatted and danced the night away. Leading up to the event, there were opportunities for people from the DDN community to try spinning the decks in a DJ’ing workshops too.
