We’ve been so lucky to have such brilliant people help out at our events, and we are always on the lookout for more people to get involved! Register your interest to be put on our list of trusty people we reach out to when we’re in need of volunteers. Each volunteering opportunity is different, but at the heart of each experience is a chance to make people’s lives a bit better through creativity and community.
How does Volunteering with Peterborough Presents work?
We welcome anyone aged 18+ to be part of our volunteer team. We are an inclusive organisation and support access requirements for each individual who volunteers with us. Here’s the steps involved into becoming a Peterborough Presents volunteer:
- You sign up to our Volunteer Team by filling in a form
- We will email you when we have a volunteering opportunity. Usually we send out volunteer call outs every 3-4 months.
- If you are available, reply to the email with what times you can do, and we’ll be in touch with the info from there!
- If it’s a big event like a festival or parade, we will normally host a “volunteer briefing” a couple of days before the event so you can be confident with what your roles and responsibilities are.
We are a small but mighty programme of creative events and activities. Every month we have something different going on. We don’t always do volunteer call outs for smaller sized workshops or projects, but we would love volunteer support if you want to join us! Volunteer tasks could include:
Putting out workshop materials, prepping supplies, setting up tables and chairs, monitoring people coming into a space, keeping it tidy, supporting artists, tidying away, capturing people’s postcodes, making people feel welcome, telling people what else is going on… and loads more!
Here are a couple of examples of different volunteer opportunities we’ve had in the past and examples of what volunteers did.
Example 1: Millfield Festival
We had a team of around 20 volunteers for the multicultural Millfield Festival, doing a little bit of everything to support our communities in having a fun and safe experience. Duties included welcoming attendees, setting up tables & chairs, litter picking, giving refreshments to artists, and hosting creative workshops.
Example 2: Reasonable Adjustment Accessible Workshops
We had a team of 2-3 volunteers helping out at each of our accessible workshops. Duties included setting up materials, welcoming people to the space, serving refreshments, and providing participants with support to do the activity if they needed it e.g cutting out shapes, laying out the artwork.
What you get for volunteering with us:
All our projects are co-created with people who don’t usually get opportunities to take part in arts & creative activity. Our mission is to create great art across Peterborough. By great, we mean art that is fun, diverse, accessible, and relevant to local communities. We are really proud to provide these opportunities for our Peterborough communities, and when you volunteer with us, you get to be an important part of the team who makes this new and creative stuff happen!
As well as being part of a supportive, friendly, creative environment, you’ll get opportunities to make new friends, try new things, grow your confidence, and make a positive difference to creativity & culture in Peterborough.
Plus, if you’re someone who is interested in Some of our volunteers have even gone on to get paid working roles in the arts!
We’ll feed and water you, give you a PP t-shirt and welcome you with fun and giggles. If you need some support towards travel then we can help with that too.
We are happy to be a reference for any of our volunteers if you need it for future work / volunteering opportunities.
We have a dedicated Access Co-ordinator called Julie if you need to discuss your Access Requirements before joining us. When you fill in the form, we will ask you if you have any access or support requirements or conditions. We ask this so that we can make sure we provide adjustments and ensure you are supported to feel confident and comfortable volunteering. If you would like to speak to Julie, please write this in the form when you volunteer with us.
