LemonWedge Movie Making with Westraven

Do you want to be part of our crew bringing Hollywood to Westwood? Looking for something cool to do for teens over the summer holidays?

Friday 1 August 2025 11am – 3:30pm

Cross Keys Community Hub, Hampton Court Shops, Westwood, PE3 7JB

A summer filmmaking activity for teenagers aged 12-19!

Only 20 places available. Open to all 12-19 year olds living in or around Westwood & Ravensthorpe. We recommend signing up now to ensure you get a place.

A group photo of 8 young people and 4 adults. They are all pulling varying silly faces, expressing the sense of fun that this project has given them.
What to Expect

You don’t need any equipment or previous experience to join in the fun.

We’ll help develop ideas from a blank page to a finished short project, all in one day. We’ll go “on set” around the neighbourhood with a real-life brief, so you’ll get a real life taste of what it’s like in the film and media creative industries.

Drinks and snacks provided.

A chance to have loads of fun, learn skills, make new friends, have a go with professional equipment, and make a fun short film to be proud of. As part of a small crew you’ll get hands on with the kit and learn skills in all the key roles needed in production, from directing and producing, recording location sound to operating the cameras, deciding shot sizes, angles and moves. Onto the edit where you’ll help decide the pacing, effects, grading and sound design.

You’ll get the chance to bring your own ideas to life individually and/or in groups. You can go at your own pace, being creative and part of something that not only is fun, but could be the start of a future hobby or even a career. We’ll bring the support and the equipment and you bring the enthusiasm and willingness to get involved.

Sessions led by professional filmmakers Stu and Cristian from London company LemonWedge Film.

Our finished project will be premiered at a community film event happening on Monday 4 August at Westraven Community Garden, which will be an outdoor cinema-style screening of Wild Robot.

Young people sat around a table in a clean white classroom, looking at Stu from Lemonwedge who is talking at the group. There is some film-related information on the large screen behind Stu.

This project is primarily for teens aged 12-19 in the Westwood & Ravensthorpe areas, and we encourage you to walk if possible! But if you are travelling from further afield or are getting a lift, the best place to park is the drop-off / short stay at Hampton Court shops. Please note the car park is maximum 2 hours, so we recommend parking the nearby residential streets instead.

The bus stop is also at Hampton Court Shops (behind the Post Office / Spar) and is the number 3 route. Please see Stagecoach’s website for more info on the timetable.

About the building

The building is wheelchair accessible and has an accessible, gender neutral toilet. The building is closed to the public, meaning we will have exclusive access to the building apart from the occasional Cross Keys member of staff.

Gemma from the Cross Keys team will be on site all day.

There is a planned Strawberry Fayre event happening at the Westraven Café and in the courtyard outside the Hub, so you may spot some marquees outside the Hub when you arrive!
