Come and join Artist Fae Kilburn for a fun accessible tactile art workshop. Creating Protest Slogans on T-Shirts & Fabric. You can also add BSL to a big art project Fae is making. You will make fabric artworks that you can keep and take home, and some that will be added to a large fabric artwork.
Beginner friendly, no previous experience necessary.
Please wear scruffy clothes – we will do our best to provide aprons but the paint may stain.
This workshop is part of a project called Reasonable Adjustment 2.0. The aim of the project is to mark the 30th anniversary of the Disability Discrimination Act, and 15th anniversary of the Equality Act. We are using these anniversaries to make artworks that capture honest feelings and experiences of what it’s like to be Deaf, Disabled, and/or Neurodivergent (DDN).
The workshop will be a welcoming space. We want to use this project to raise awareness of DDN people’s lives, give platform to your voices, and offer a place to share your experiences (good and bad) through creativity.
What to Expect
What to Expect
A relaxed, inclusive art & making workshop. Suitable for all skill levels, for anyone aged 8 – 16!
Expect a friendly atmosphere with live demonstrations and a chance to get hands on with fabric paints. Using fabric paints and textiles, you’ll experiment with materials and Fae will guide you through a variety of printmaking techniques to decorate t-shirts that celebrate and raise awareness of the lives and experiences of deaf, disabled, and/or neurodivergent communities. The workshop will be a safe space to be honest, be creative, have fun, and share experiences. You can make using words or BSL signs.
The workshop will involve using paint and inks, so please wear scruffy clothes!
This workshop is part of our Reasonable Adjustment project, which is all about working with deaf, disabled, and neurodivergent communities across Peterborough. Your work will be incorporated into new artworks made by Fae and proudly displayed in September as part of the project celebration. Details to be confirmed.

Access Information: The Workshop

- The workshop will be expertly guided by disabled artist Fae Kilburn
- Fae will give a demonstration at the front of the room, and clearly explain what she is doing so that anyone with sight loss can follow along
- Wheelchair accessible
- Accessible & gender-neutral toilet
- The workshop will be seated on standard plastic/classroom chairs with no arm rests. You are welcome to bring your own chair if you prefer.
- Materials used include printing ink, various tactile fabrics and accessories. If you require assistance with any of the equipment, our team will be available to assist.
- You will be given a name badge sticker when you arrive.
- Maximum spaces available – 12 participants plus parents/carers.
- We will have a box of focus toys and Ear Defenders, or feel free to bring your own.
Fae and the Peterborough Presents team will also be there to support if you need. You are welcome to go at your own pace and take breaks whenever you need.

There will be someone to greet you from the Peterborough Presents team when you arrive. The workshop location is immediately on your right as you walk through the front door.
No food and drink to be brought in from outside (unless needed for medical reasons) – we will provide free refreshments from the Angle Gaming Lounge menu.
The room has a relaxed, DIY vibe, with black curtains pinned around the edges of the walls, and fairy lights on the ceiling. We will be bringing additional room lights so that you can clearly see the interpreter and the activity.
The chairs are similar to dining room chairs without arm rests. Feel free to bring your own if you prefer.
The room is split up by several scaffolding poles, which will be taped with neon hazard tape to make them identifiable.
The room has no windows.
The entrance to Angle Gaming Lounge is on Ashworth Court, which is accessed from Paston Lane. There are 8 parking bays operated on a first, come first serve basis.

The building is a bright orange colour with large character illustrations painted outside.
The entrance to Angle Gaming Lounge is on Ashworth Court, which is accessed from Paston Lane.
There are 8 parking bays directly outside the front door. Parking spots are first come, first served.
The door is on the right as you face the building.
3 hour parking at Morrisons Car Park, which is a 5-10 min walk. Use the pedestrian crossing at the entrance to Morrisons by the petrol station.
