What To Expect
Expect a lively atmosphere of up to 50 people of all ages, with the opportunity to have a go at singing karaoke in front of an audience of family, friends, and the local community.
Using karaoke equipment, you will be able to sign up to have a go at singing a Bollywood karaoke track of your choice. You will also get the opportunity to have feedback on your performance from professional singer Bhagwati Makwana.
There will also be plenty of chance to socialise with other attendees and enjoy the live entertainment!
The event may include some group singing exercises and other activities that promote singing for wellbeing.
Each event is 2 hours long and to get the most out of the masterclass we’d encourage you to stay for the full 2 hours. You are welcome to come to one event or come to them both.
This event is being led by Peterborough Diwali Association, and supported by Peterborough Presents through the Millfield Creative Activity Fund.
About Bhagwati Makwana
Bhagwati has been singing for the past 20 years both with live musicians & on tracks. She has sung in various locations including abroad.
Her first & main guru was her father, who taught her the Sa Re Ga Ma Pa on his harmonium. Her mother is also a beautiful singer herself.
Bhagwati was taught by Mangal Singh for a while, as well as having a few lessons with Usha Timothy from India.

The entrance to Bharat Hindu Samaj is on Rock Road. There is a small car park which fits about 15-20 cars.

There will be both English and Hindi speakers at the event. Songs can be sung in English or any other language. The main theme for this karaoke event is Bollywood songs and songs from Indian culture. The backing tracks for the karaoke will be played using YouTube, so you will be able to request any particular song.
The venue is wheelchair accessible, and entrance is via a ramp. There is an accessible toilet by the front entrance. The nearest bus stop is the Occupation Road bus stop for the number 1 & number 62 services.
Seating will be available – the seats are likely to be standard plastic fold-up chairs. You are welcome to bring your own chair or please get in touch with Rajni if you require a better chair.
