Celebrating 10 years of creativity in Peterborough
Peterborough Presents is celebrating 10 years of working with communities across the city to create great art – and for our birthday year, we want to celebrate all the ways in which you can be creative and encourage you to get creative too.
Since 2024 we have collaborated with people from across the city to show that creativity is more than galleries and theatres – it can mean circuses, folk tales, street murals, poetry on the walls at the Lido, Zombie Walks at Diwali, being serenaded by violins whilst in a hot tub at Thorpe Meadows, going on magical history tours and creating lantern parades. It can mean carnivals at Millfield Festival, weekly craft groups or even doing up your local street with colourful planters.
We enjoy working closely with communities to co-produce our programme so that residents can experience art on their doorstep – projects that are relevant and fun!! A party isn’t a party unless others join us on the dance floor. So, we’re inviting you all to come and join us and have a go at getting creative!
Over the course of this year we will be celebrating in different ways;
- A huge creative party dome at Peterborough Celebrates Festival 2024
- Sharing people’s favourite memories of the 10-years of Peterborough Presents
- A series of new illustrations and podcasts that celebrate the Everyday or Hidden Creatives we have met and what being creative means to them
- A short film about our 10-years
- Our birthday celebrations will continue with community-led creative programmes too in Millfield, Westwood, Eye, and beyond. Highlights include the Millfield Makers event in August, Eye Lantern Parade in November and film projects with young people in Westwood.

Throwback Thursdays and Sharing Memories:
We are excited to be celebrating our 10th birthday – that’s a whole 10 years of co-creating great art with the amazing communities in Peterborough- 10 years of presenting art, theatre, performance, poetry, street art, photography, festivals, workshops, walk, talks and more! – 10 years of working with the amazing creatives based in Peterborough and beyond.
Over 12 months we’ll be celebrating our birthday, and one way we are enjoying this is having people share their favourite memories with us. Memories from 10 years ago or from last month, it can be something funny, something meaningful, something you’ve learnt, or something that inspired you. We would love to hear from you.
For the first sharing of our Peterborough Presents memories, meet Lauren Kendrick (top right below)! A local artist and poet, food activist, leader of Flourish Peterborough, the chair of the Peterborough Food Partnership, and current Poet Laureate. Since then, we have shared a series from 17 other people on our social media outlets. You’ll see them all tiled below (just one slide from each person).

Our new film!
Ben Croft from www.OptimiseMultimedia.com helped us capture the thoughts of some of the wonderful people we’ve worked with over the 10 years. It’s a lovely film – made us cry a little.
