Drop in for a free cup of tea, some biscuits, and a chance to chat to our Millfield of Dreams artist, Mark Murphy. This drop in “Meet the Artist” event is a chance to find out more about the project, ask any questions, and book your film slot if you want to be part of the filming week. It is also a great opportunity to share your stories and memories of Millfield with Mark and his team, so they can incorporate them into the film.

All communities and backgrounds welcome! No experience necessary – we aren’t looking for actors, we’re looking for real people to be celebrated through this film. Whether you’re a first generation arrival into the city, you worship at the mosques or temples, you have fond memories of spending your evenings at Chicken Palace, and everything in-between! Millfield is a place that’s home to people and cultures from all over the world, and we want to make sure we include and celebrate the diversity of this vibrant part of the city.
What is Millfield of Dreams?
Millfield of Dreams is new artistic short film being made about Millfield. It’s all about celebrating the diversity and cultures in the neighbourhood. We are looking for real people from all walks of life to star in the film. No experience necessary, we want to capture people’s everyday lives and what Millfield means to you. We also want to use this project as a way to capture the stories and teachers of the elders within the community.

What to Expect
Expect a chatty environment of people and tea! Drop in any time between 4pm and 6pm, and stay for as little or as long as you want.
We’ll provide the tea, chai, coffee, juice, and snacks.
Mark and the team will be on hand to answer any questions, as well as take audio recordings of any stories you might want to share with us.
Access Information
The Allama Iqbal Centre (also known as Gladstone Connect) is wheelchair accessible and has an accessible toilet.
There will be plenty of seats – a mixture of plastic fold-out chairs and soft-cushioned waiting room chairs.
Expect some noise and commotion – we will have a set of ear defenders and focus toys available for those with sensory requirements, and please bring your own if you prefer.
Activity will happen indoors in the main hall of Gladstone Connect community centre.
Parking is extremely limited; we recommend walking or public transport where possible.
