Film Making with Eye Gets Green

Working with Emily Steele-Dias, young people in Eye will discover film language, shadow play, shaping stories for film, trying out camera work, sound, lighting, stop motion.

Monday 27 October until Monday 1 December
6 – 8pm
Eye Youth Club and Community Centre, PE6 7TN

What will we be doing?

Experiment and use film making techniques to create animations or short films. Each week there will be a new method to try, from shadow play to editing. You can book onto one session or all six. At the end of these workshops, the films that are created will get their own special screening, somewhere in Eye in early 2026. Just bring yourself, no need for fancy equipment. Enjoy a safe, creative and laid-back session. Beginner friendly, no experience necessary.

Upcoming sessions:

Here’s a simple plan of what each session in the six weeks will include. It’s okay if you can’t attend all six, you can come along to as many as you’d like.

  • Week 1/Oct 27th– Discover film language through short challenges, shadow play and discussion.
  • Week 2/ Nov 3– Generate and shape story ideas from local Eye folklore, places and experiences.
  • Week 3/Nov 10 – Build practical skills in camera work, sound, lighting and stop motion.
  • Week 4/Nov 17 – Begin group production, filming or animating key scenes.
  • Week 5/Nov 24 – Complete filming and start editing, creating a rough cut.
  • Week 6/Dec 1 – Finalise editing and complete the group film.
