A free picnic, get together, and celebration for all the community in Westwood and Ravensthorpe!

Featuring a giant cake sculpture, lots of free cake and snacks, art installation, creative workshops, and a creative talent show for kids (and big kids!) – this is one summer party not to miss!

Activities include: cake decorating (and eating!), baseball cap customisation, giant sculpture making, pebble poetry

Don’t worry if you forget to bring some food, we’ll have some free snacks available, and the café will be open and serving hot drinks and cold snacks at the usual prices.

Over the last couple of months we’ve run lots of creative activities in the area with a team of amazing artists. Sam Roddan, Nikki Goldup, Keith Hopewell, Laura Collins, and Ryan Bailey have been popping up on the streets of Westwood running a scavenger hunt, after school paint seshes, pebble painting, and cake decorating.

The teatime picnic is the final event in this series, and is a chance for everyone to come together to have fun, make memories, and be creative.

 Expect fun vibes and a big gathering on the field! Turn up, sit down on the grass, hang out, wander round, and take part in the variety of activities on offer.

You will also be able to see an awesome art installation featuring giant planes and artwork made by Westwood kids & teens, as well as a poetry film all about happiness, featuring words donated by the local community

The “talent show” is inspired by our friends at the Westwood Residents Association who have run successful talent shows in the past. This talent show will have a twist – imagine it like a sports day except the challenges are creative. Who can throw a paper aeroplane the furthest? Who can make the best pebble dog?

On top of all of that, the event will feature a giant 6ft cake sculpture, covered in decorations made by local people. If you decorate a cupcake on the day, you will also be invited to join our lovely little cake parade too!

This is family friendly event, children are welcome. Some activities will require parents to accompany their children.

Dogs are welcome too! Please keep all dogs on leads.

The talent show challenges will take place between 5pm and 7pm.

The cake parade and free cake will take place at approximately 7pm.

All creative workshops will be running 5pm – 7:30pm.

You will also be able to pick up a free book from Peterborough Reads / The National Literacy Trust.

You are welcome to bring food to share with your friends and family.

The event is BSL interpreted by Lisa Warren. You will be able to have a guided tour of activities and take part with Lisa there to interpret. If you need this, please text 07435 985935 or head to Stafford Hall where we will be able to assist you.

The event will take place outside on grass next to public footpaths.

The event will be open access. You can drop by at any time during the event and stay as long as you want.

 The grass will be litter-picked before the event.
