What will we be doing?

Eye Gets Green is a club for young people (12 – 16 years) from Eye or nearby villages, where they can get creative and be green at the same time. It’s a set of six creative workshops/sessions. These next set of sessions feature drawing and photography.

Over the six weeks, the young people will explore mark making, drawing to scale, memory drawing, photography techniques, photographing and drawing on location. They will create work that will be part of an outdoor exhibition in Eye, late May/early June 2026.

Each week is led by illustrator, artist and photographer Emily Bowers.

Upcoming sessions:

Here’s a simple plan of what each session in the six weeks will include. It’s okay if you can’t attend all six, you can come along to as many as you’d like.

  • Week 1/March 9th – Meet Emily, explore mark making and how drawing isn’t about being ‘good’ – it’s about finding what brings you joy in the moment
  • Week 2/ March 16th – Exploring ways and techniques of looking including memory drawing and intuition
  • Week 3/March 23rd – Introducing drawing BIG – capturing expression through drawing
  • Week 4/March 30th – Expand skills, taking what we’ve learnt to get out in nature and draw on location
  • Week 5/April 6th – Photography on location – warm up game and looking at photography techniques
  • Week 6/April 13th – Chance to continue drawing / taking photos on location and reflecting on the sessions

* If attending Week 4, 5 and 6, please be advised the young people will be drawing or photographing at an outdoor location in Eye. The start and end venue will the Eye Youth club, so the young person can be dropped off and picked up from there. Please email Keely at keely.mills@neneparktrust.org.uk for more information about this.

The programme was funded by The National Lottery Community Fund and Arts Council England.

Some photos captured during the first session, exploring mark making and using different materials.
