About This Event
Light up Eye is Coming!
Eye village is going to be the backdrop of a spectacular Lantern Parade in early November of this year. Just for one night, the village will be a sea of lanterns, musical performances, outside spectacles and people gathered, spreading light at the darkest time of the year. Everything in the parade will take inspiration from the Village, its history, community groups and its recent memories of creativity.
A panel made up of Eye residents, chose La Septima who are a French based company to create a festival of light that will honour a recent cultural remembrance of the village.
The memory, the parade will honour is that of the Drakes Christmas lights. From the 1980’s to early 2000’s. George and Christine Drake would create the most amazing light displays that took over their home in the village, it attracted thousands of people from in and around Eye to visit and they raised a lot of money for Charities. Even now, some people still travel there every Christmas, hoping to experience them again.
