Enjoy these safe, creative, and laid-back sessions. Beginner friendly, no experience necessary. This set of four creative workshops/sessions will be focusing on the design and installation of a mural/ outdoor art/ street improvement in Eye village.
Through the sessions, the young people will explore their creativity, collaborate with others, experiment with scaling up their artwork, and help to decide on a location for the mural. They will also decide on the final design and will be invited to help paint or install the mural too, which will be in August 2026.
Each week is led by illustrator, artist and photographer Emily Bowers.
All materials will be provided.

Please note: You don’t need to sign up every week, just come along to whichever you can and want to attend.
* If attending Week 2, please be advised the young people could be visiting potential mural locations. The start and end venue will be the Eye Youth club, so the young person can be dropped off and picked up from there.
Week 1- 15th June – We’ll learn: what is a mural, how it can impact a space. We’ll begin exploring what is important to you in relation to the theme through drawing and making.

Week 2 – 22nd June – Location scouting! Check out the potential locations for where the mural might go and select your favourites. Introduction to colour palettes and more time to continue making.

Week 3 –29th June – Introduction to working to scale and collaborating together to select parts of your creations to go into the mural.

Week 4 – 27th July – Post-design collaboration session- come and check out what Emily has created as a suggested design and make any adjustments together. We will then do the behind the scenes work to get everything ready to begin painting!

Access information:
There is a ramp that means its wheelchair accessible with two small steps with a handrail into the building. The sessions will use certain art materials. If there are any sensory issues that we should know, then get in touch.
We will have a quiet space for anyone that needs some time away. Toilets are available for attendees to use inside the main building and they are wheelchair accessible.
Travel information:
There is a bus stop opposite St Matthews Church, and the venue is two mins walk away. There is a small car park for 4-5 spaces and drop offs etc. This is also good for blue badge holders. But this is also used by the library, so if you can park elsewhere then please do it.
