We’re hosting 4 creative workshops with local artists and creatives aimed at 12 – 16 years olds who live in Eye or surrounding area.
About the project
We’re proud to announce that Peterborough Presents and Eye are part of a new two-year project to improve the lives of young people in Eye and Peterborough, thanks to funding from The National Lottery Community Fund.
This project Building Healthier Green Futures (BHGF) project will support young people aged in Peterborough, to develop new skills and create connections with nature and local greenspaces. This ambitious new partnership project is led by Nene Park Trust and involves Froglife and Westraven Cross Keys Homes Community Café and Garden (supported by Cross Keys Homes) and (Us) Peterborough Presents.
Who’s it for?
Eye Gets Green is a club for young people aged 12 to 16 from Eye or nearby villages, where they can get creative and be green at the same time. It’s a set of four creative workshops/sessions, where young people can try some different activities that they might enjoy. The activities are street art, trying spray painting, stencilling, building characters, trying illustration techniques, planting, making stories, creating 3d characters from air drying clay. Each week is led by a different creative, where they demonstrate and encourage the young people.
There will be a chance to tell some of the PP team what other things that the young people might want to try in the future too.
We will have breakout spaces where people can chill too.

Wednesday 23 July – 6-8pm: Create a story and plant some herbs with Lauren Kendrick
Create a story for a character through fun activities, using creative writing that wants your imagination to grow wild. Once you have made your story then share it whilst you learn about the folklore of some herbs, then plant one to take away. Expect messy ink and messy fingers.
About Lauren Kendrick: Lauren Founded Flourish in 2021, where she offers bespoke informal education, strategy and arts projects across Peterborough. Whatever Lauren does she uses the principles and ethics of Permaculture. Flourish also leads the Peterborough Food Strategy. Lauren is a poet and writer and was Peterborough Poet Laureate in 2024.

Wednesday 30 July- 6-8pm: Sculpting creatures in nature with Hannah Bigley
Using air dry clay, the group will learn different ceramic techniques such as pinch pots, score and slip and rolling in textures with various objects and natural foliage, to explore making creatures/characters in nature. Inspired by the local mythology of Eye, or straight from your imagination and connection with the green spaces around Eye.
Hannah is an illustrator, printmaker and ceramicist based in South Lincolnshire. Hannah enjoys working with long processes such as lino print and pottery as it allows them to have a slow and considered approach to making, with an air of mystery from the final print reveal or kiln opening. More recently their work has focused on the natural world, the places they have visited and the spiritual connection they feel to them. Hannah is also interested in portraiture, typography, popular culture and folklore.
