About This Workshop

Price: FREE (booking essential)
This online workshop is part of Peterborough Royalty – a drawing project which gives people the chance to say thank you to someone who has made a difference – big or small – over the last 2 years.

If you are wanting to create your own art work for the Peterborough Royalty project but are wondering where to start or need some tips then this workshop with artist Ellie Sandall will share simple collage techniques and support you in creating your own ‘thank you’ art work. This workshop is aimed at families and young people aged 4+ (see notes below).

Ellie’s workshop will use materials you might find around the home so gather together some spare magazines, newspapers, coloured paper, glue, scissors and colour pens / pencils.

Preparing for the workshop

Just bring along some thoughts on who you want to thank and why, and perhaps a photo of the person if you have one. The focus of the workshop will be creating alternative “portraits” as a thank you – but you don’t have to be any good at drawing! Our artist Ellie will show you some tips and tricks to make a good picture using simple materials.

If drawing people is not for you – you can make a piece inspired by any activities you’ve done with this person e.g a coffee cup, a delivery van, a shopping bag full of food… anything that captures this person and why they should be thanked is fine!

If you are under 16 years of age and attending the workshop alone we will need a parent / guardian to complete a permissions form. This will be emailed to you once you have signed up to the workshop.

Under 8’s must be accompanied by an adult / guardian

About Peterborough Royalty

Everyone deserves to feel like royalty for one day. Do you know someone who you would like to thank for doing something for you or your community over the last 2 years? Through this project we will create an exhibition and field of flags at the Peterborough Celebrates Festival on 13 – 15 May 2022 at Ferry Meadows – one big thank you to the kind people of the city.

The deadline for submitting your artwork is 11th April.
